Get Your Wheels Ready!

The Shaler EMS and the Shaler Police are going to help you get ready for biking this summer!  Join them at the Bike Rodeo on Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Kiwanis Park!  Bring your bike! Learn the rules of the road! 
We made it through winter, and spring has finally arrived! No better time to join our once-a-month book discussion group with other mothers and daughters (or girls and an adult grown up) and tell us what you liked...or didn't like...about the book. A related book activity and a snack are always included as well! Perfect for girls in grades 3-6, but all are welcome! This month's selection is "Almost Identical," by Lin Oliver, and the book meeting night is Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 pm. Just stop into the library, pick up your copy, and register!

Mark Your Calendars!!

The SNHL is honored to have been chosen to host a visit by children's author Suzanne Bloom on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30 pm as part of the PA "One Book Every Young Child" reading initiative!! All children in attendance will be given a FREE copy of "The Bus For Us," that Ms. Bloom will autograph in addition to five fun-filled activity stations related to the book. Mother/Daughter Book Club

Everyone is so busy in this fast paced world, but our mother/daughter book club could be perfect for you! Share a book and a cup of tea together, then come to our once-a-month book discussion group with other mothers and daughters and tell us what you liked...or didn't like...about the book. Let It Snow!!

It's a winter wonderland out there! For the safety of our patrons and our staff, toddler storytimes today will be held at 11:15 am and 12:30 pm, and shake, rattle and roll music will be held at 11:45 am and 1:00 pm. The 10:15 storytime and the 10:45 music program WILL NOT be held today to allow patrons and staff the opportunity to dig out and drive safely here as well as clean our library sidewalks! Be careful, and we hope to see you soon!

Mother/Daughter Book Club

Ballpark Franks!

On Thursday, June 23 at 12:15 pm, "batter up" to the new Ballpark Mysteries series by David Kelly! Each child will be given a copy of Book #1, The Pinstripe Ghost, as we read the first 2 chapters together, then they can finish up the book at home (all while counting time toward summer reading hours!). In addition, we will learn some cool things about Fenway Park, play a game or two and...the best part...eat hot dogs and chips, so come hungry! (Please notify us of any food allergies). It's almost here!! Summer reading 2011 at the Shaler North Hills Library! We are busily preparing for our biggest and best summer reading program ever! Registration for Summer Reading Club begins on Wednesday, June 1! ALL AGES are eligible to register!

  • Little Explorers (those not reading independently)
  • World Travelers (those reading independently through 6th grade)
  • Teens (7th grade and up)
Our program runs through September 3, so all you have to do is READ and earn BOOK BUCKS to spend in our PRIZE store!!

New Preschool Express Blog!
